The government of Nicaragua plans to increase the share of geothermal energy from 8% to 34% over the next seven years

The government of Nicaragua plans to increase the share of geothermal energy in electricity in the country from 8% to 34% over the next seven years, according to Mario Gonzales, director of Geothermal Department at the Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM). He was in Iceland for a few days by invitation of International Development Agency (ICEIDA). He was here to acquire knowledge on the geothermal industry in Iceland and visit the main institutions involved in ICEIDA´s geothermal project in Nicaragua.
