Namibia: An Association for the Deaf in Namibia to be established

The Icelandic Association for the Deaf is going to support the government of Namibia in establishing and managing a similar association in Namibia. In recent years the association has worked for ICIEDA in improving Deaf teaching by emphasising Sign Language and training of interpreters.
According to a new agreement with ICEIDA, the Icelandic Association of the Deaf will give expert advice in order to promote the participation of the Deaf and the hard of hearing in Namibian society, by supporting the establishment and management of an association of the Deaf in Namibia, consultancy and support in teaching and researching Namibian Sign Language, training of interpreters and consultancy in designing projects.
