Stefán Jón Hafstein Will Become Country Director in Malawi

Stefán Jón Hafstein will become ICEIDA’s next Country Director in Malawi. He will take over the position early next year from Skafti Jónsson who will return home after staying for a year in Malawi. This year, Stefán Jón has been Project Manager for ICEIDA in Namibia.

Of ICEIDA’s six collaborating countries, Malawi is the busiest but a quarter of ICEIDA’s budget last year went into projects in this poorest of the African countries. Malawi was number fourteen from the bottom according to the index for the development of living standards which was recently presented.

“I have liked being in Namibia but this offer of becoming a Country Director in Malawi where ICEIDA’s most extensive projects in Africa are carried out is a great honour for me and a challenge I will not ignore,” says Stefán Jón.

The position of Project Manager in Namibia has been advertised.
