Council on International Development Cooperation and Development Cooperation committee

According to the law No 121/2008 on Icelandic International Development Cooperation, a Council on International Development will operate, based on Article 4 of Act No 121/2008. The council will be responsible for professional debate on Icelandic ODA and hold 17 members, thereof one chairman, five members from Icelandic aid agencies, two from the academic society and two from the social partners. The seven remaining members are Parliament representatives who also comprise the Development Cooperation Committee whose main role is, according to the new Act, to secure the role of Parliament in policy and decision-making in regard to long-term international development cooperation.  

 

The Parliament elected the seven members of the Development Cooperation Committee in November 2008. These are:
